Have you ever cleaned a carpet? Properly, we mean. Of course, a lot of people vacuum the carpet and maybe even scrub out the odd stain, but to do it properly is often something that a lot of people struggle with.
Because we’re all stuck in lockdown, it has become much more difficult to make sure the carpet stays clean. So, let’s take a look at exactly what you need to do to keep your carpets looking fantastic in lockdown.
First of all, let’s take a look at how you vacuum properly. What you are going to want to do is dust off all the surfaces first, pick up any objects which would not be possible to vacuum up, and then prepare the room in any other way required.
You should make sure that you use all of the proper attachments for getting into those hard to reach corners. Things like skirting boards, gaps between furniture, and things like that will require you to have the best possible attachments.
It is also important to vacuum slowly. Don’t rush around and try and get everything done really quickly, because that just won’t work. Instead, take your time.
Next, we will take a look at removing stains from the carpet. As a general rule, do not let anything dry if you find a spill. Instead, deal with it as soon as possible, because something which is dry will become a lot more challenging to remove.
There is a method to remove the most common stains, which goes like this. First of all, absorb as much of the liquid as you can with a paper towel. Then, sprinkle baking soda on the stain to break down its composition. Then, what you’re going to want to do is let it sit for a bit and allow the baking soda to work. And finally, you should then be able to just hoover it out.
Other tips for removing stains include making sure that you test cleaning solutions on a small test patch of carpet before applying, and to blot at stains instead of scrubbing them. What this will do is get rid of the stain instead of spreading it further up and down the carpet.
Deep Cleaning Carpets
Understandably, the need to deep clean your carpet can be quite considerable. Thankfully, there is a method of doing this without having to call a professional in.
First of all, you will need to hoover the carpet thoroughly by following the procedures mentioned earlier. Then, apply baking soda to the most troublesome elements. You have to give the baking soda time to work, and then, you should be able to hoover it out of the carpet along with the stains.
Alternatively, you can use a solution of cleaning fluids like disinfectants and water, but you need to be careful not to have anything acidic which will damage the carpet. In this case, you would apply it to some kind of brush, clean the carpet with the solution, and then hoover it up when it has dried slightly.
